In its highest-dose clinical trial (STEP UP), adults taking semaglutide 7.2mg weekly who stayed on treatment lost an average of 20.7% of their body weight over 72 weeks, compared with 2.4% for those making diet and lifestyle changes alone. Average trial results are not a prediction of individual results.1,2

In the same trial, 31.2% of people taking 7.2mg lost 25% or more of their body weight, compared with 0% of those on placebo.2

In a post hoc analysis reported by Novo Nordisk (May 2026), the roughly one in four people on the 7.2mg dose who responded early (losing 15% or more by week 24) averaged 27.7% weight loss at 72 weeks.3
